Tuscany 2014 - itinerary  

Day 1 – Saturday

Late afternoon group pick-up from Terontola train station by our private driver to your
home for the week, a restored 1800’s stone olive mill villa with panoramic views
overlooking Lake Trasimeno. The property is located on an acre of terraced gardens
that include a private 22’ x 45’ infinity pool, WI-FI, outdoor table tennis all surrounded
by centuries-old olive trees and rolling vineyards. Welcome sparkling wine toast
and antipasto buffet on arrival, tour of villa, time to relax and enjoy a swim.

Day 2 – Sunday

CORTONA CULTURAL TOUR – step back in history
Italian breakfast at villa of espresso, cappuccino, fruit juice, farm fresh jam, yogurt,
fruit and Italian bread. Morning departure to Cortona, one of the most famous hilltop
towns in Tuscany, featured in the movie ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’. We begin the day with
my friend Ivan for a step back in history. Sip an espresso or glass of wine while being
transported back to 200 BC, view a recently discovered original Etruscan well to the city
along with roman, Etruscan and medieval artifacts. Enjoy the remaining time on your
own exploring within Cortona’s medieval walls, wander the ancient streets of
cobblestone, visit the town’s historical gems, enjoy the incredible hilltop panoramic
views or shop the quaint gift boutiques featuring local artwork, venetian glass, jewelry,
leather goods, ceramics and artisan foods. Dinner at the villa by Chef Vincent.
Day 3 – Monday

Italian breakfast at villa. Its wine harvest in Tuscany, our day begins in the vineyard with
a walk amongst the vines, sampling ready to harvest grapes sweet & sun kissed. Our
private tour continues with a visit to the family owned Mezzetti winemaking facility, cellar
and olive mill, followed by a special private wine and olive oil tasting with the winemaker
accompanied by regional Tuscan antipasti dishes. Enjoy a free afternoon to swim,
play a game of lawn bocce, stroll the terraced gardens, hike amongst the olive groves
or relax poolside under the Tuscan sun. Dinner at the villa by Chef Vincent.
Day 4 – Tuesday

Italian breakfast at villa. Late morning cooking class – homemade Tuscan pici pasta
with slow-cooked ragu; Italian ricotta cheesecake with Italian red wine-berry sauce
(the cooking class is optional, if you want more cooking join chef in the kitchen anytime).
Lunch at villa followed by a free afternoon to relax and enjoy the Tuscan sun. Evening
dinner, a private welcome in the gardens of Agrisalotto nestled in the vale of Cortona.
We’ll begin with a bruschetta olive oil tasting accompanied with antipasti appetizers,
followed by a farm to table multi-course wine and tasting dinner – antipasto mista,
Toscana hand-made pastas with truffle sauce, traditional bistecca beef steak with wood-fire
ash potatoes, paired with Agrisalotto’s red and white wines. Dessert is a sampler of
cakes, gelatos and panna cotta accompanied with vin santo dessert wine.
Day 5 – Wednesday

Italian breakfast at villa. Morning departure to Market Day in Castiglione del Lago
(the castle on the lake) – the 11th century town IS the castle, dominated by a medieval
fortress with a 90’ tower. We’ll shop the quaint open-air market stalls in search of
delicious and unique ingredients. Enjoy your remaining free time exploring – stroll along
the castle’s medieval walls for panoramic views across Lake Tresimeno or visit the
church of Santa Maria Maddalena with its stunning domed ceiling and frescoes. Time to
rev up our engines and hit the road for our next destination, the Lamborghini Winery for
a private cellar tour and tasting. Dinner – mama’s cooking! This evening we’ll gather at
a long farmhouse table with chef’s friends and family to share an amazing dinner
of traditional Tuscan dishes including mama’s infamous fruit crostada.
Day 6 – Thursday

Italian breakfast at villa. Morning departure to Montepulciano, a renaissance hill town
of exceptional beauty with stunning views overlooking the Val d’Orcia, a valley of olive
groves and vineyards famous for its Vin Noble wines, wine connoisseurs consider it
among Italy's best. Montepulciano is a culinary and shoppers delight with some of the
best specialty food and artisan shops in all of Tuscany selling wines, pecorino cheese,
honey, aged balsamic vinegars, olive oil, truffles, hand-painted pottery, linens, olive
wood kitchen tools and hand-hammered copper pots. Evening 4-course dinner at villa
prepared by Chef Denene Vincent with sparkling Prosecco wine toast at sunset.
Day 7 – Friday

Italian breakfast at villa. Morning group transfer to Terontola train station.
Alas, your culinary experience with Le Chat Gourmet in Tuscany must draw to a
close but never an end. You depart with new found friendships, wonderful memories
and your cooking class recipes to recreate and reflect back on for a lifetime – Ciao!
